Two women among four in drug, gun and ammo bust

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOUR individuals, including two females, will soon face the Court to answer charges of possession of cocaine, a firearm and a quantity of ammunition following a joint Security Forces operation in the Bird Rock area last week.

     

    According to a police communiqué, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Special Services Unit and the Drug Squad had teamed up with members of Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department’s Enforcement Unit on Thursday (May 29) to simultaneously launch operations, executing search warrants, on the Bird Rock premises of Carla Hendrickson, Patrick Weekes and Dwayne Martin.

    The communiqué stated that, based on intelligence reports, they were all involved in illegal narcotic activity within the twin-island Federation.

    It also stated that during the operations, a quantity of cocaine was discovered at Weekes’ residence and that Cassanya Lanns of St. Paul’s Village, who was present during the time of the search, was taken along with Weekes and the cocaine into police custody.

    Both of them were charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply.

    And at Hendrickson and Martin’s residence, the law enforcement officers unearthed a quantity of cocaine, an unlicenced firearm and 13 matching rounds of ammunition. Both of them, along with the cocaine, firearm and ammunition were taken into police custody.

    Hendrickson and Martin were charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

    The police did not state if the four charged persons were on bail or remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

    The communiqué however stated that the police are urging citizens to continue calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 “with information on any suspicious activity, as these tips can lead to dangerous drug arrests and firearms removed from the streets of our Federation”.
