BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 2nd 2014 (TUCOM) -- “The lawlessness, lack of transparency and corruption that typify the modus operandi of the illegitimate Douglas regime have been the sole cause of the issuance of an advisory by the USA Treasury Department to financial institutions advising them to guard against illicit actors holding St Kitts and Nevis passports,” said St.Kitts-Nevis Opposition Alliance Team UNITY Leader Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris.
Dr Harris told a mammoth group on Thursday night at Team Unity’s Listening Tour Townhall Meeting at the Community Center in Conaree, that given the Citizenship by Investment Programme was now a major industry, the country faced a huge risk to its progress and sustainability as a result of the US Government Advisory. That risk was attributed through the greed, avarice, corruption and illegality and impropriety in the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme presided over by the illegitimate Douglas regime.
Dr Harris said “Years of warning by the government of Canada and USA went unheeded by the Douglas regime. The promised changes made by the Douglas regime after the Moghadam diplomatic passport fiasco have not yet been undertaken .The restoration of the country origin field in the passports have not yet been done. The revocation of passports from illicit actors and the sale of diplomatic passports in breach of international protocol continue. Douglas prefers to protect the interest of economic citizens and risk the safety and security of our genuine citizens and nationals.”
The USA and Canada governments will take further punitive action against holders of St Kitts and Nevis passports because the passports have been compromised and are now of diminished value. The PEP programme, and all programmes supported by SIDF are in jeopardy. The peace and security of our country have been endangered by the delusional misleadership of the Douglas cabal.
Dr Harris said “Team Unity will immediately undertake a complete overhaul of the Citizenship by Investment Programme by an independent and knowledgeable group of entities, to ensure that the programme meets international market acceptance. We will cooperate with all governments in particular USA and Canada because we cannot jeopardize their financial space or borders.”
The national community remains outraged that the cavalier and lawless approach to governance by Douglas, has made St Kitts and Nevis the laughing stock of the region.
