June 3rd, 2014 -- The St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Houston (SKNAH) is pleased to announce a call for applications to our annual independence scholarship. The 2014 SKNAH scholarship supports Kittitians, Nevisians and their relatives in pursuit of higher education.
Scholarship Eligibility
• Native of St. Kitts & Nevis or relative of a Kittitian/Nevisian native
• High school senior or college student pursuing full-time or part-time undergraduate studies at a college, university, or trade school in St. Kitts, United States, or any other country
• Candidates, whether pursuing their degree onsite (on campus) or via distance education, must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits per semester
• Candidates must have a proven record of involvement in community service
• Candidate must not be on full scholarship
Application Requirement
• Completed application form
• 500- word essay
Award Amount
At least one award recipient for a minimum of $1000.
Application Deadline August 16th, 2014
The winner(s) will be announced at our annual Independence Scholarship Gala to be help on September 20th, 2014. SKNAH has awarded five scholarships since 2012.
Formally established in 2008, SKNAH is grass roots non-profit organization with the purpose of providing support and enhancing the lives of Kittitians and Nevisians in our Federation and the Greater Houston, Texas area. We are involved in educational, cultural, social service programs, volunteerism and keeping our culture strong and vibrant.
