BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FIRST DIVISION Champions Molineaux Cricket Club destroyed Second Division Champions Haynes Smith Cricket Club in an exhibition T20 Cricket match, as the St. Kitts Cricket Association brought a close to SKCA NAGICO Cricket League at the Edgar Gilbert Cricket Complex in Molineauxon on Saturday (May 31).

Molineaux won the toss and elected to bat first.

Captain Jacques Taylor, who led by example, guided the innings with a fluent 78, stroking seven 6s and four 4s, as the team registered 142 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Bowling for Haynes Smith, Leroy Leader took two wickets for 16 runs off his four overs and was supported by Raymond Chumney who took two wickets for 24 runs.

In reply, Haynes Smith was left reeling by two buddingfast bowling stars from Molineaux.

Akazie Richards led the way with four wickets for 23 runs while Gregory Hewitt took three for 26 runs off his spell.

Shawn Liburd 19 and Shawn Morrishaw 17 were the only batsmen to offer some resistance to the strong Molineaux bowling attack, which saw the team being bowled out for a paltry 76.

A Closing Ceremony took place immediately after the game, which saw members of the two teams being presented with their medals and trophies following their success in 2013.

Addressing the gathering, President of the SKCA Stanley Franks reminded them that cricket is not just about the players on the field, but also the critical administrative component in order for the game to function.

He however declared that over the last year the SKCA had some problems in the administration of cricket, which included difficulty in accessing facilities as well as finding a suitable home for the Association.

He also called on the relevant authorities to show more support to local cricket.

Franks also declared how pleased he was with the level of cricket displayed by the two champions and posited that the talent demonstrated proved that in the near future a Kittitian would be representing the West Indies Team.
