Basseterre, St. Kitts June 6th , 2014, (PAMCOM):-The 18th installment of the annual Green Valley Festival was officially launched on Thursday evening June 5th and declared Open by Parliamentary Representative Hon. Eugene Hamilton at the Cayon Community Centre during a Fundraising Dinner and Appreciation Ceremony.
In declaring the festival open Hon. Hamilton commended the efforts of the committee through the years and in particular made special mention of new Chairman Jerome “Jebu” Isaac whom Hamilton described as a remarkable young man.
In addressing the audience the People’s Action Movement Deputy Leader challenged Isaac and the committee to create activities that would involve the youths. He indicated that activities such as spelling bees and essay competitions should be pursued and encouraged .
In commenting on the opening Hamilton used social media to relay his thoughts regarding the Opening Event and said “Last evening I had the pleasure of welcoming the incoming Chairman Jerome "Jebu" Isaac. "Jebu" is quite a remarkable young man, He started as the groundsman for the festival some years ago and through his absolute dedication to his community, ascended to the chairmanship of the Green valley Festival Committee. He is an example to all young men and women in the community and the country.”
“I want to say that the Festival has seen Glorious heights and some disappointing valleys, more of the former than the latter I must add. But while other Festivals have come and some have sadly gone, Green Valley is here 18 years later and last night we were again reminded that that spark to create something great is still there,” Hamilton stated
Hamilton ended by saying “I want to invite ALL AND SUNDRY to the Cayon area to celebrate with us. Green Valley is open and ready to entertain you and your entire family.”
