BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – REPRESENTING St. Kitts and Nevis, Conaree FC put in a commendable performance to take fourth spot at the Regional Guinness Street Football Challenge Final played in Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago once again proved they were the Caribbean’s kings of street football when they retained their title by beating Guyana in the Final, as they hosted eight of their regional counterparts at the Final of the Fourth Annual Guinness Street Football Challenge from June 6-7.

For the team representing St. Kitts and Nevis donning their bright orange kit, the tournament for them started on a sour note on the first day with a 2-1 loss to the Golden Jaguars of Guyana.

They however bounced back later that evening by beating Dominica 3-1 on penalty kicks. In their final preliminary round game the Federation’s representatives defeated St. Lucia 1-0 in a game that seemed certain to finish nil-all draw and set up a Semi-Final clash against host country Trinidad and Tobago.

In the Semi-Finals however, the home side proved the better of the two just edging St. Kitts and Nevis 3-2 to progress to the Final.

St. Kitts and Nevis however played one final game – a third place playoff against St. Vincent and the Grenadines – and lost the exciting encounter 2-1 after taking an early lead.

The team earned the right to represent the Federation for the second consecutive year after outclassing their opponents in May to retain the local title.

The other participating countries were Antigua and debutants Barbados and Jamaica.
