The late Mr. Kishu Chandiramani
By: Team UNITY, Press Release (TUCOM)

    A NOBLE LIFE

It is with profound sadness and dismay that I receive the news of the passing of Mr. Krishan (Kishu) Chandiramani of Fortlands, Basseterre, St. Kitts.

Mr. Kishu was a consummate businessman who served humanity with love, dignity and respect. His accomplishments in business are numerous and very well known to just about everyone in this Federation.

Through careful planning and dint of effort, Mr. Kishu has demonstrated to the country how we all can become successful. The very presence of the Rams Group of Companies is ample evidence of his business acumen and dedication.

Mr. Chandiramani was a colossus in this country and served in many areas outside of his own business activities, including President of the St Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce; President of the St Kitts and Nevis Hotel &Tourism Association; President of the St Kitts Rotary Club; Director of the Bank of Nevis and Honorary Consul of India to St. Kitts-Nevis.
However, his sterling contribution to the overall development of our twin island nation is very conspicuous. Mr. Kishu’s acts of kindness, compassion, community spiritedness and selflessness transcended the above organizations and are equally to be accentuated.

His sponsorship of the RAMS Primary School Athletics Championship has been a catalyst which has catapulted our tiny nation to the spotlight of world athletics. Also, Mr. Kishu, by way of his company, has sponsored sporting teams in basketball, netball and football.

Of course one cannot forget the establishment of The St Christopher Outreach Center on the Irish Town Bay Road. It provides hot meals to the underprivileged and counseling to the mentally ill. The Center is the brainchild of Mr. Kishu and is managed in partnership with the St Kitts Christian Council.

But, perhaps Mr. Chandiramani’s most permeating and enduring legacy of his philanthropic deeds in the Federation is his contribution to the field of healthcare, as it personally benefits many individuals. The Endoscopic Unit at the Alexandra Hospital, Nevis and the Eye Clinic at the J.N. France Hospital, St. Kitts, both stand as powerful testimonies to his caring heart.

Yet, there were many other positive attributes of this humble giant who touched the lives of so many. The virtues of Mr. Kishu can best be summed up in him being the very epitome of a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.

He was “a class act”; a captain of industry; a man of wisdom; a business visionary and luminary; an outstanding citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis, and India; and a humanitarian extraordinaire.

The great American President Abraham Lincoln once said “We should be too big to take offence and too NOBLE to give it”.
Mr. Kishu Chandiramani lived such a noble life.

May God grant Grace, Peace and Mercy to his wife, Sheila, and family, as they face their and the country’s loss!
