BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - REGULAR contributor to the Federation’s radio talk shows Carl Browne reported that on Monday (Jun. 9) he was robbed of a sum of money by two armed masked individuals.

The incident occurred between 7:20 a.m. and 7:25 a.m. while Browne was on his way home from working the 10-6 shift at the Joseph N. France General Hospital (JNF).

The Irishtown resident said he had disembarked the JNF bus a short distance from Ms. Janet Alley on the Bay Road, and while walking through that alley two individuals jumped over a wall, “rushed me and pushed me into a galvanise fence. They pat me down and one had a gun pointed to my head and the other had one pointed in my back.”

The social commentator said he had EC$2 080 on his person and one of the bandits relieved him of it.

The bandits reportedly fled the scene, at which point Browne said he began screaming and it drew the attention of some residents of the area.

“When they were running through the alley, I noticed the guns...they were two black guns. One had their nose and mouth covered with a green head-tie and the other had an orange one. They had on no shoes and they didn’t say a word. They made no noise whatsoever; it happened so quickly!” Browne said.

He told this publication that the incident was reported and a police officer had visited the scene of the incident.

Browne also said that he initially thought he had sustained no injuries as a result of the attack but realised that his right wrist had swollen later that evening. However, an X-ray revealed no broken bones or fractures, but he noted that his hand is still swollen and tender.

SKNVibes contacted Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David, who confirmed that an investigation is being made into the incident but he could not have provided additional information at the time.
