BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN recent days, the Federation’s top athlete, the indomitable Kim Collins, has been flying around the world to compete in va number of athletic meets.

Winging out a few days ago from his adopted Jamaican home, the former World Champion  had competed in a number of countries including China, Italy and, most recently, Morocco, where he won the 100M at the IAAF World Challenge Meet.

Today (Jun. 11), the 38-year-old will be competing against a star-studded team at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway, which is part of the IAAF Diamond League Meetings.

According to the Associated Press, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt would not be competing. He is working his way back from a foot injury, and today’s race would leave Trinidad and Tobago's Richard Thompson as favourite for the 100.

Thompson, the 2008 Olympic silver medallist, clocked 9.95 seconds last weekend at a meet in Hengelo, Netherlands.

Collins will also come up against the likes of Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut, who also cocked 9.95 seconds this year, and Norway’s favourite Jaysuma Saidy Ndure as well as British runners Richard Kilty and Adam Gemili.

Meanwhile, the home fans will be hoping that Andreas Thorkildsen could return to his best for the javelin throw, where the former world and Olympic champion will face Egyptian world leader Ihab Abdelrahman El Sayed.

The media organisation also reports that Olympic champion Allyson Felix would go head to head with Ivory Coast's Murielle Ahoure in the 200 meters, as she hopes to re-establish herself as the dominant force in that distance after an injury-plagued 2013.
