BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - GLENVILLE ISLES' attempted murder appeal matter has been adjourned to the next sitting of the Court of Appeal in October of this year.
Isles' matter was called to be heard yesterday (Jun. 11) but he made a request for it to be traversed.
The unrepresented convict told the Appellate Court that he was not in a position to proceed with the matter, as he needed time to prepare a proper case.
Director of Public Prosecutions Travers Sinanan stated that they were ready to argue the matter, but noted that "it is a serious matter and it does face a substantial sentence".
He also noted that Isles did not have legal representation and he would leave it in the Court's hands to have the matter adjourned or argued.
Chief Justice Janice Pereira adjourned the matter, allowing Isles the time to properly prepare his case.
Isles was sentenced to 20 years hard labour on Dec 14, 2011 for shooting his ex-girlfriend in the wee hours of Tuesday, December 27, 2010.
According to the evidence presented in Court, the then 41-year-old Isles shot his former girlfriend in the face and she was transported to the JNF Hospital, where she was treated for her injury.
Isles, who was also unrepresented at trail, however told the Court that he was innocent and was not at the scene of the crime.
His appeal is expected to be heard at the next sitting of the Appeal Court during the week of October 27 to 31, 2014.
