BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 13th   2014 (TUCOM)  --  In a congratulatory letter issued today, Team Unity’s Leader, Dr. the Hon Timothy Harris has extended encouragement and support to the Hon Gaston Browne, Leader of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party on his success in the just concluded elections in Antigua and Barbuda. The elections saw Hon Gaston Browne leading his Party in a landslide victory, defeating the Spencer led UPP by 14 to 3 seats on preliminary count. Dr. Harris and his colleague Gaston Browne spoke by telephone early this morning, during which the two leaders spoke on the outcome of the elections in Antigua.

In a subsequent letter to Antigua’s incoming Prime Minister, Dr. Harris told the Prime Minister designate that, “I extend my very best wishes to you and your incoming administration as you assume the mandate of service to the people of Antigua and Barbuda and the region.  From our many interactions over the years, I know that you are passionate and committed to build a better Antigua and Barbuda and Caribbean region.  In that noble mission of service to the people you have our every encouragement and support.

The people of Antigua and Barbuda have voted overwhelmingly for change.  They have voted for hope which your team offered. We anticipate that under your astute leadership, you will restore Antigua and Barbuda to former halcyon days and put the people back to work.

Please keep faith with the people and they will in turn give you the guidance and support which you will need.  May God bless your efforts.

Please be assured of my continuing esteemed consideration”.
