Tuesday 17th 2014 - New York born, Puerto Rican Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning singer Elvis Crespo will bring his meringue anthems, Tu Sonrisa, Pintame and Suavemente to the first night of the 2014 St Kitts Music Festival, which runs from June 26 through 28, Warner Stadium, Basseterre, St Kitts.
Suavemente reached the number one position on the Billboard's National Hot List and remained in first place for seven consecutive weeks. It sold over a million copies in the United States alone and more than 4 million worldwide.
His studio albums span some 16 years with Suavemente - 1998; Pintame and The Remixes - 1999; Wow! Flash - 2000; Urbano - 2002; Saboréalo - 2004; Regresó el Jefe - 2007; Indestructible - 2010 and his latest: Los Monsters - 2012.
According to Faron Lawrence, Chairman the St Kitts Music Festival Organising Committee, Crespo's appearance is being anticipated by many. "We have been getting positive feedback from the Latin community in the Caribbean and South America and our very own locals. Crespo's performance at the Festival represents a culmination of culture and talent here in the Caribbean. Music has no boundaries and we expect Crespo to do what he does best, which is to place genre, ethnicity and language in one melting pot of rhythm and movement we call Meringue."
Among Crespo's many awards, his Saboréalo album took the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Meringue Album. He joins a diverse line up of R&B, reggae, acoustic and jazz acts for the Festival's 18th staging.
Tickets to the three night event are available at select local outlets and online at www.stkittsmusicfestival.com. Admission is EC$100 nightly and $270 for season passes. For further details, check out the St. Kitts Music Festival Facebook page
