Roadtown, Tortola - Government is seeking proposals for a book documenting the contributions made by Noel Lloyd and the Positive Action Movement.

Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office Mrs Rosalie Adams made the disclosure at Sunday’s ceremony to officially re-name the Palm Grove Park, the Noel Lloyd/ Positive Action Movement Park.

According to Mrs, Adams, “the book should among other things record the history of Positive Action Movement, outline the immeasurable sacrifices they endured and in the process, underscore the significance of their contribution to protecting the legacy of the Territory.”

She encouraged interested persons to submit their proposals by the April 15 deadline. Proposals should be sent to the Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office.

Mrs. Adams has also revealed that a commemorative magazine on the re-naming of the Palm Grove Park to the Noel Lloyd/ Positive Action Movement Park will be produced.

She stated that the magazine will include profiles and biographies of the members of the Positive Action Movement, photographs from the officials re-naming ceremony and a profile of the sculptor who produced the statue of Noel Lloyd that forms part of the monument erected in the park.

The Positive Action Movement was instrumental in securing the termination of the 1967 agreement that leased 60 acres of land around Wickham’s Cay and three-quarters of Anegada to the British company Bates-Hill for 199-years.

The Palm Grove Park has been officially re-named in honour of their contribution to securing the legacy of the Territory. The re-naming is in keeping with Government’s commitment to recognise and honour the valuable contributions made to the overall development of the Territory by individuals and groups.
