BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DEPUTY LEADER of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) the Hon. Mark Brantley has committed his party’s support for the Unity Construct heading into the next General Elections.

This pronouncement was made yesterday (Jun. 25) at the launch of Team Unity’s Headquarters.

Brantley told the hundreds in attendance that the CCM is in support of Team Unity and posited that it would bring the three seats in Nevis to the Unity Construct.

“I want to thank you all for inviting us over and I want to say that we are here today to demonstrate our commitment to team Unity…Nevis is Unity and Unity is in Nevis.

“I recently spoke at the PAM Convention and assured the good people of St. Kitts that when this election is called, whenever it is called, we will come to St. Kitts with three seats…Nine, 10 and 11.”

He challenged the team’s faithful to go out and cast their ballots and have them counted since the Unity Construct would be looking to pick up six seats at the upcoming General Elections.

Brantley took a swipe at the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration, saying that it was a show of weakness by the Federal Government to not allow the police to grant the Unity Team permission to have the street blocked for the opening of its Headquarters.

‘I’m saying to you that your must change our land, I’m also saying to you that you must not be afraid or concerned. The reason why you could not get police permission today is because those who currently occupy Church Street are afraid of you all. It is not a demonstration of strength but a demonstration of weakness.”

Brantley brought a moment of jubilation to their supporters when he highlighted some of Unity Team’s objectives they would be bringing on stream if elected to Office - cutting of VAT and finding permanent jobs for the PEP workers.

“If you the people, the people who are gathered here, want to see your mortgage on your low income houses adjusted, then you must vote Unity. And we are not just talking about it in Nevis, we are demonstrating it. Right now if you are on the PEP and you want a permanent job on the Construct, you will have that.”

He however noted that the representatives of Team Unity have had their differences, but they were put aside for the smooth running of the country.

“We have had our historic difference but it is the measure of us as individuals. Like we have said, it is the love of country which has let us put those differences aside.”

He was the first of several speakers to address the large crowd gathered to mark the opening of Team Unity’s Headquarters.

The Headquarters is located just above the local office of Chippie St. Kitts at the top of Fort Street in Basseterre.
