OECS Senior Track & Field Championships

    Basseterre, St. Kitts – 3rd July 2014- A team of 27 athletes comprising of sixteen (16) males and eleven (11) females, will be representing the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis at this weekend’s OECS Senior Track & Field Championships.  

     

    Allistar Clarke, Delwayne Delaney, Brijesh Lawrence, Lestrod Rowland, Xavier Francis, Kajon Parris, O’Brian Huggins, Calvert Chiverton, Aaron Bernier, Adolphus Jones, Tahir Jefferson, Dion Warde, Lonzo Wilkinson Jr., Adrian Williams, O’Neil Thomas, Timoy Henry, Merecia Pemberton, Shenel Crooke, Meritzer Williams, Virgil Hodge, Renika Daniel, Rosalie Pringle, Krystal Liburd, Vernica Joseph, Stavia Lewis and Ashika Williams. 
     
    SKNAAA Treasurer Mr. Burchelle Crooke manages the team of twenty-seven (27), whilst veteran Level V Coach Lonzo Wilkerson Sr. leads the coaching delegation and is assisted by Roatter Johnson and Llewelyn Pyke. 
     
    This year’s competition which is scheduled for Saturday 5th – Sunday 6th July 2014, signals the revival of this elite championships which has been dormant for close to two (2) decades. 
     
    At close of registration earlier this week, a total of ninety-six (96) athletes were registered from eight (8) of the nine (9) member states of the OECS including host country St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines. While Monserrat gave their intent to compete in this year’s championships, unfortunately they were unable to field a team. 
     
    The competition commences this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at 3pm daily.
     
    Tickets for this weekend’s competition can be purchased in advance at the TDC Business Center on Central Street. Admission, Kim Collins Pavilion $20; Grounds – Adults $10 and Children Under 12 - $5.
