A Highlight of the Local Music Calendar

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 7th, 2014 - It is time again for a highlight of the local music calendar, when past and present students of the Lawrence School of Music present their 33rd Annual Pianoforte Concert.

This concert will take place on Tuesday, July 15th, at 7.30. p.m. at Wesley Methodist Church on Seaton Street.

Experienced and budding musicians will display their musical talent on the piano, and also on wind and stringed instruments.

You will be treated to original compositions and arrangements, as well as new and classic music that we love and will enjoy.

These young people are an asset to our country and should be encouraged in this effort as they bring joy to the hearts of all with their beautiful music, while contributing to a worthy cause in the community.

Last year's joint State Scholars, Tama Martin and Kyle Levi Bradshaw, who are both students of the Music School, will be the Masters of Ceremony at the evening's proceedings.  They are both outstanding musicians who have made great contributions in their churches, schools, and in other musical spheres.  Along with their hosting duties they will participate in the concert.

The proceeds of this programme are earmarked for the Wesley Methodist Church.

Early in the year, the Music School gave donations to St. Johnston Methodist Church and the Paediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts.  Additionally, a donation was given to help send a child abroad for treatment, which is a wonderful example of children helping children.

The Music School is grateful to all who support these concerts, in any way, and we look forward to the 33rd concert on Tuesday, July 15.  We give thanks to God for the gift of music.

On a sad note, the Music School mourns the loss of one of its past students, Thensia Grey, who went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20th.  Thensia participated in these concerts both in singing and playing the piano.  We pray that her family will take comfort in knowing that Thensia is now safe in the arms of Jesus.  May Thensia rest forever with the Lord.  And may God grant the familypeace.
