BASSETERRE, St Kitts - A top official of the Police Force has reported that resulting from an exercise conducted over the past weekend, two young men were arrested and charged after fragmentation vests (bulletproof vests) were found in their possession.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd informed SKNVibes that Alonzo Alexander of New Road and Joshua Dedier of Saddlers were both charged with unlawful possession of the bulletproof vests.

He explained that on Saturday (July 12), members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force conducted an exercise in the Camps/West Farm area, during which the vehicle in which the young men travelled was stopped and searched. The DCP informed that four fragmentation vests were found in the vehicle.

The items - along with Alexander and Dedier and the vehicle - were taken into police custody and DCP Liburd said both were subsequently charged.

He also informed that Alexander has since been granted bail in the sum of $5000 with two sureties and an application for bail has been submitted on Dedier’s behalf.

    Investigations are ongoing.
