St. Kitts and Nevis under flashflood watch

Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN Met Office):  The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for low lying and flood prone areas of Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands, valid until 2:00pm today.

A Flash Flood Warning means that moderate to major flooding is imminent or occurring in low lying and flood prone areas.

An active Tropical Wave is crossing the Eastern Caribbean. Significant showers and thunderstorms are embedded which could result in rapid build up of water on the ground.

Residents in the affected islands should safeguard themselves against such possibilities.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
