    Roadtown, Tortola - His Excellency the Governor has re-appointed Ingrid Moses Scatliffe to the Police Service Commission with effect from May 1, 2009.

     

    Mrs. Moses Scatliffe, along with four other commissioners, was appointed to the Police Service Commission when their instruments were signed and became effective on February 3 at a short ceremony held at the Governor’s Office.  However, Mrs. Moses Scatliffe cannot assume the related duties until May 1 therefore the Governor has revoked her original appointment and signed a new instrument appointing her to the commission effective May 1.

     

    The Governor appointed Mrs. Moses Scatliffe after consultation with the Police Welfare Association in accordance with Section 96(1)(d) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007. The other members of the commission are Chairperson     Mrs. Josephine Callwood and members Mr. Selwyn Vanterpool, Mr. Milton Creque and Mrs. Rosalia Gardener.

     

    The commission has a mandate to advise the Governor on any appointment to, or removal from, an office within the Police Force; advise the Governor on any disciplinary matter pertaining to an officer; conduct or cause to be conducted, proceedings for the hearing of disciplinary offences and complaints made by the public in relation to an officer; review and recommend legislation pertaining to appointments to, or removals from, offices within the Police Force and or to the exercise of disciplinary control over officers, among other responsibilities.
