Press Release

September 11, 2014 - Junior Achievement St. Kitts and Nevis and the Ministry of Education in St. Kitts, on September 08, 2014, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster the development of young people in the island of St. Kitts. Both entities have been and will continue to promote Junior Achievement and its Programs within the public schools and learning institutions.

The Junior Achievement Programs (JA Programs) emphasize economic development through entrepreneurship, from kindergarten to secondary schools and beyond. The programs also focus on financial literacy and work readiness, which are important in preparing for self employment and or otherwise being employed.

The signing of this document formally confirms the dual commitment of both entities to pool resources for the advancement of our youth. It is believed that the achievements which have been, and which will be derived as a result of collaboration, have been, and will be much more, than what can be accomplished independently.

JA continues to expand with the unwavering support of the Ministry. Two additional programs will be piloted in 3 primary schools and one in three secondary schools during the current school year.

A similar formal commitment is expected to be made shortly in the sister island of Nevis following continued discussion. Mrs Tracey Herbert, ED of JASKN and Ms Clarice Cotton, CEO in the Ministry, who signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations, look forward to continued collaboration in support of youth entrepreneurship, Junior Achievement and youth enhanced development.
