    Roadtown, Tortola - His Excellency the Governor after consultation with the Public Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Mr. Guy Hill as the Deputy Chief Immigration Officer in the Department of Immigration.

     

    Mr. Hill, who took up his appointment on March 1, has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from the University of Texas.

     

    Mr. Hill’s public service career commenced in 1987 when he was appointed as Immigration Officer (surveillance) in the Department of Immigration.  He also acted as Deputy Chief Immigration Officer from October 2003 to July 2005.  Prior to his appointment as Deputy Chief Immigration Officer, Mr. Hill served in the post of Assistant Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Department from September 2007 until February 2009.

     

    The post of Deputy Chief Immigration Officer became vacant in October 2008 when the substantive holder of the post, Mr. Dennis Jennings, was appointed to the post of Chief Immigration Officer.

     

    The Deputy Chief Immigration Officer manages the functions of the status unit, responds to requests pertaining to status matters, coordinates deportation orders,  repatriation of illegal migrants and the department’s training programmes and initiatives, supervises staff and deputises for the Chief Immigration Officer during his absence.
