BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE first case of the September 2014 Criminal Assizes began and concluded yesterday (Oct. 2) with a unanimous verdict, exonerating Eric Halliday of the burglary charge which was preferred against him.
The Tabernacle Village resident was charged, according to police, after he was found with house-breaking implements in his possession on July 19, 2012.
SKNVibes understands that he was accused of stealing a laptop computer from a home in the Conaree area.
This publication further understands that with serious holes in the prosecution’s case, it was unable to prove that Halliday committed the offence. And after retiring for deliberations, the jury emerged in about an hour’s time and presented its verdict to the court.
All 12 members of the jury found that Halliday was not guilty of the offence for which he was charged.
Halliday was represented by Chesley Hamilton.
