October 3, 2014 - October is internationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Reach for Recovery SKB is once again making strides towards making a greater impact in St. Kitts and Nevis with an extensive awareness campaign.
In October 2012 Reach for Recovery launched a “Pretty in Pink” Facebook photo competition mainly to spread awareness among the younger segment of the population and to engage users with pertinent information about breast cancer via this very popular social network.
According to Reach for Recovery Public Relations Officer Markysa O’Loughlin, that by popular demand the contest now includes men and is now dubbed “Posh in Pink”. To further reinforce that men are ready to support their families in the fight she stated that for this year’s contest, a “Daddy and Daughter” category is introduced.
“Posh in Pink” allows for everyone, categorized in four (4) age groups: 6-12, 13-18, 19+ and “Daddy and Daughter” to dress up or accessorize in pink and have their friends and family vote for their picture by liking the Reach for Recovery Facebook page and their photo. They are also required to send a short description, poem or creative piece on why they support the fight against breast cancer. The competition began on September 16th, 2014 and runs through October 31st, 2014.
Interested persons can show their commitment and support for breast cancer awareness by entering this contest. Simply submit your photo via Facebook along with a short description on why you support the cause then get friends and family to like the Reach for Recovery SKB’s Facebook page and your photo!
