SKNABA Reaches Out to Community for Assistance as Basketball City Burglarised and Vandalised

Basseterre, St. Kitts  - On the Eve of the start of the 2015 SKNABA Playoffs the Association has been dealt a blow with the burglarizing of the Bar and Vandalisation of the Facility at Basketball City

The Bar was burglarized and thousands of dollars in Drinks were removed or stolen along with transformers and other equipment. According to a SKNABA Official the burglars took everything that wasn’t bolted to the ground. They emptied all the coolers and took the ENTIRE stock of drinks which were recently acquired and packed in preparation for the upcoming playoffs.

In addition to the robbery of the bar the court facility was seemingly vandalized as the nets were removed from the rings. It has since been revealed that the Nets were removed by Reach One Teach One Basketball Camp Director Wendell Pemberton whose organization donated the nets in preparation for their recent hosting of a UK Basketball Team.  The removal may have been a simply case of Pemberton returning for the nets that his organization had originally donated.

The robbery and vandalisation has forced the SKANABA executive to secure the facility by locking all gates and entrances. The norm had been that the facility was generally left open to allow for its use by teams and youngsters from the area. However with the recent burglary steps have been taken to keep the facility much more secured.

The SKNABA is reaching out to the community not only for assistance in apprehending the perpetrators of the robbery but also the corporate community for assistance in re-stocking the bar and ensuring that the bar is fully stocked for the balance of the season.

“We have been faced with many challenges over the last season and we have dealt with each one. This latest challenge will be no different. I am confident that our executive will put the effort and work necessary to end the season on a high note despite the many challenges,” said SKNABA Secretary General Wallis Wilkin

Any civic minded citizen, basketball fan or company  that is interested in assisting SKNABA can call president Kenroy Tobias at 763-1469 or Secretary-General Wallis Wilkin at 766-0662.
