BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOUR male students of the Charles E. Mills Secondary School (CEMSS) were suspended last week after offensive weapons – including knives – were found during a search conducted by police late last month.
The search was prompted after a message threatening the lives of both the Principal and Deputy Principal on the school was discovered on one of the walls of the boys’ restroom.
The message suggested that on September 25, 2014, both would be dead.
Commander of District B Superintendent Cromwell Henry explained to SKNVibes that last week Wednesday (Oct. 1), a meeting was held amongst the students’ parents, the Principal of the CEMSS, an official of the Ministry of Education and the police.
He said during the meeting, the parents were informed of the police’s intentions to prosecute their children. He said they are Fourth and Fifth Form students and that subsequent to the meeting, they were suspended for two weeks.
Rather than being charged, Henry explained, the students would be summoned to court having been accused of carrying abroad an offensive weapon.
The District Commander also informed that investigations into the graffiti which was left on a wall in the boys’ restroom are ongoing and two of the suspended students are suspects in that matter.
