BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 16TH 2014 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Foreign Affairs continues to lobby for scholarships for the young people of the twin-island Federation.
During the recent 69th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Minister Nisbett held discussed the issue of scholarships with his counterparts from Georgia and Spain.
“In bi-lateral discussions, Foreign Minister Nisbett discussed with his counterpart from Georgia, the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding articulating areas of technical cooperation including healthcare, scholarships and renewable energy,” said Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations in New York, Mr. Samuel Berridge.
He said Minister Nisbett also discussed with the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the establishment of an MOU on tertiary education and a water desalination project.
“His talks with the Uruguay Foreign Minister involved support for Uruguay’s candidate for Secretary General of the OAS and that country’s vision for reorganization of the Organisation of American States (OAS) Secretariat,” said Mr. Berridge.
