    Roadtown, Tortola - Another public servant has started a one-year secondment to the BVI London Office.City Manager Ms. Eugenia O’Neal is currently serving as Political Officer at the London Office.

     

    In that capacity, she is expected to provide direct support for the Head of the BVI London Office, Ms. Dawn Smith.
    Ms. O’Neal holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a Masters of Philosophy in Political Science. In addition, she holds certificates in Gender Affairs and Public Relations.

     

     Her stint at the London Office is part of the Civil Service Secondment Programme which allows public servants to be seconded to the London Office for periods ranging from six to 18 months.

     

    Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs. Rosalie Adams, told the Department of Information and Public Relations that “in addition to providing support for the Director of the London Office, Ms. O’Neal’s presence is likely to further strengthen the overall functioning of the office, especially on matters relating to the European Union.”

     

    Mrs. Adams further stated that “Ms. O’Neal is very proficient in research and she will also do some work in this capacity as we seek to improve the work of the BVI London Office.”

     

    Ms. O’Neal’s secondment brings to six, the staff complement at BVI London Office.

     

    Earlier this year, Statistician II in the Development Planning Unit Mr. Reginald Hodge began a similar secondment.

    The Civil Service Secondment Programme was proposed in 2006 by Director of the BVI London Office Ms. Dawn Smith as part of efforts to boost the staff complement. The programme seeks to identify strong, talented individuals with excellent communication, research and reporting and team-building skills. Candidates must also be individuals with integrity and a strong work ethic.
