Roadtown, Tortola - Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE has extended congratulations to Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer of Antigua/Barbuda on his re-election.

Mr. Spencer’s United Progressive Party secured its second mandate from voters in the poll on March 12, winning nine of the 17 parliamentary seats.

In a letter to Mr. Spencer, Honourable O’Neal said the “victory is certainly an indication of the people’s confidence in your leadership coupled with your persistence and perseverance.”

The Premier also commended Mr. Spencer on winning his constituency describing it as a “vote of confidence in the leadership and representation you have given your constituents over the years.”

In the letter, Honourable O’Neal also wished Mr. Spencer and his team a successful term in office. “As you begin your second consecutive term as Prime Minister of the twin-island of Antigua and Barbuda, I give you my assurance of the highest regard and cooperation.”

The Premier anticipates that he will be able to personally extend congratulations when Mr. Spencer visits the Territory for an upcoming meeting. “I very much look forward to welcoming you to the Territory in May at the next OECS Heads of Authority Meeting when I can offer my personal congratulations and extend to you a bit of the BVI hospitality,” he stated.

The Governments of the Virgin Islands (UK) and Antigua/Barbuda have enjoyed years of cordial relations as members of several regional organisations.
