BASSETERRE, ST KITTS – Over two hundred and fifty delegates gave the leadership of the People’s Action Movement a big thumbs up for the work they have been doing, by nominating the team to return to the helm of the party.
PAM held its 43rd annual caucus on Sunday (Mar. 15) which discussed the work of the party and paved the way for its annual convention on April 19, 2009.
Following three hours of deliberations, the entire out-going executive was re-nominated. Their positions are expected to be confirmed at the national convention.
PAM is preparing all arms of the party for general elections widely expected to be held this year..
The party has indicated that it is planning a series of major public events for the next few months as it moves to intensify its campaign.
The party has been busy staging regular town-hall meetings, as well as weekly community public meetings every Thursday night.
“We are confident where we are at the moment, and we think that the party is in the best shape it has been for quite a long while,” said Public Relations Officer Wallis Wilkin.
“As we saw from yesterday’s meeting there is a lot of confidence from the rank and file of the party in the leadership of PAM, and they are looking for our colleagues to successfully take up the mantle of leadership of this country,” he continued.
PAM is seeking to return to office for the first time in over 13 years.
“Thirteen years of the (Denzil) Douglas regime have brought more crimes, economic uncertainty and corruption in governance, and people are saying that they have had enough,” said Chairman Sydney Osborne.
The returning Executive comprises the following persons in the following positions respectively:
