PM Douglas and Caribbean leaders discuss Ebola and Chikungunya viruses

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 4TH 2014 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is in Trinidad to attend a special meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to discuss the deadly Ebola virus as well as the Chikungunya virus (ChikV) which is affecting people within the Caribbean Community.

     

    Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister the Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who called for the meeting is hosting the event on Tuesday afternoon.

    Dr. Douglas, who is the lead head of Government for Human Resources Development, Health and HIV/AIDS, had also called for discussions regarding significant public health challenges.

    The meeting will be held at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s and is intended to review action being taken regarding the current challenging public health issues facing the Caricom region and to agree on a way forward.
