The St Kitts Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce is again registering itsconcern regarding the upsurge in murders and gun related-crime within the past few months. The Chamber was very heartened by the reduction in the murderrate from a high of 35 in 2010 to 15 in 20t2. However, crime seems to be again trending in the wrong direction.
The Chamber underscores to our citizens that positive Nation building and crime are not compatible with each other, and hence implores all citizens to co-operate with the authorities in the prevention of all types of criminal activity.
The Chamber strongly recommends to all business owners that, in order not to attract criminal elements, they should do everything to avoid engaging in cash payments of wages and salaries to their employees. Wages and salary payments
should be made by way of cheques or bank transfers.
As the festive season approaches the Chamber encourages all businesses to become more pro-active in crime prevention practices. Business persons are asked to visit the website of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, www.sknpolice.com, and under the section "safety Tips", learn how you might further secure your personnel and property from harm and danger.
The chamber wishes the whole population a very happy, peaceful and safe festive season.
