Increase in passenger arrival, flights and cargo in October 2014 compared to 2013

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 18TH 2014 (CUOPM) - The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) is reporting increases in passenger arrivals and departures at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts for the month of October this year compared to the same period last year.

     

    Figures from SCASPA’s Department of Finance & Statistics on Tuesday indicate that 8,085 passengers arrived in October this year compared to7, 525 passengers, an increase of 560 passengers, an increase of 7.44 percent.

     

    The department is also reporting an 8.40 percent increase in passenger departures, with 7,780 passengers leaving in October this year, compared to 7,177 passengers last year, an increase of 603.

     

    The number of inbound flights in also increased 2 percent in August this year to 495 compared to 485 in October last year. Flights out also increased 1 percent to 495 in October this year compared to 487 last year.

     

    American Airlines continues to be the leading passenger carrier into St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.

     

    SCASPA disclosed that American Airlines brought in 53,850 passengers on 30 flights in October with 3,566 departures.

     

    The second leading carrier was LIAT with 2,649 passengers from 156 flights and took out 2,714 passengers on 156 flights.

     

    British Airways brought in with 641 passengers on 8 flights and took out 601 passengers also from 8 flights in October.

     

    SCASPA’s Department of Finance and Statistics reported that next in line was Seabourne Airlines with 425 passengers from 42 flights in and 401 passengers outward bound from 42 lights; WINAIR, 181 passengers from 32 flights.

     

    Trans Anguilla brought in 114 passengers on 31 flights with 131 passengers outbound.

     

    There were also 67 private flights with 228 in bound passengers and 228 outbound passengers.

     

    A 68 percent increase in cargo imports and a 51 percent in cargo exports in October 2014 compared to the same period last year.
