Cooler Fete releases bigger, better line-up for 2014 event

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FROM the humble beginning as a ‘small party’, the Cane Juice Cooler Fete brand has blossomed over the past two years into one of the premier Carnival events, and last evening (Nov. 27) the impressive entertainment line-up for the third annual hosting was released.

Sponsors, specially invited guests and others gathered at the St. Kitts Marriott for the Cooler Fete’s press release and media launch event which was also carried live on the airwaves.

Attendees, listeners and viewers got a taste of what is to come with the playing of a teaser promotional video while the main sponsors revealed themselves and endorsed the event.

    Concept

Raphael ‘Phonse’ Rodney, Head Promoter and Event Organiser of the Cooler Fete, explained to the media that the event – which would be held on December 20 – is designed to provide as much enjoyment as possible without too much of a dent in the pockets of patrons.

“Cooler Fete is basically that event where groups, friends, teams, could be your enemy and all, get together and have fun. It’s a frugal event where everybody contributes to a cooler rather than all you guys going to a bar and spending money. You could probably rack up hundreds of bucks but if you just contribute maybe $20 each, you have a cooler packed…”

Of course there would be those who would prefer not to have to endure the hassle of packing a cooler. Rodney said those persons would be well-taken-care-of as a well-stocked bar would be one of the features of the event.

    Entertainment

Explaining that the Cane Juice Cooler Fete 2014 is tag-lined “Dancehall vs. Soca”, Rodney released the entertainment lineup for the event and noted that it includes Extacy Sound out of Nevis, Sweet Sister Sensia, EK, DJ Kevy Kev of Miami, TNO Sound, Mr. Bagnall, Mod Stoney, Infamus, Kollision, Royalties Band and the Nu Vybes Band International.

He said international Soca artiste Farma Nappy and Dancehall icon Aidonia are also slated to perform at the event.

    Improvements

Last year’s event was held at the LIME grounds but this year, according to Rodney, it would take place in a more intimate and central atmosphere at the Pulse Arena, located on Victoria Road just opposite Basketball City.

He said different logistical arrangements have been made but he however chose not to let the cat out of the bag in that regard. He however advised that prospective patrons should “come” and have the ultimate experience.

The crew that has the most creative cooler would win a $1 000 cash prize during the event and a catamaran cruise prize would be won by the largest cooler crew. Several promotional events are expected to be hosted in the lead up to the December 20 date.
