St. Thomas; U.S.V.I. - A 25-year-old motorcyclist died on St. Thomas Thursday after being involved in an accident just before 6 p.m. on Crown Mountain road, according to Traffic Supervisor Sgt. Roselyn Jarvis. Jaycobie Blash was taken to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

According to the preliminary traffic report traffic was halted in both directions on Crown Mountain Road to allow a green Toyota Corolla to reverse into a carport. An orange Suzuki motorcycle, operated by Blash overtook several vehicles while travelling north and collided into the left passenger door of the Toyota. Officers who responded to the scene said Blash was bleeding from a head trauma. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital and later died.

This is the first road fatality of the year on St. Thomas, according to Sgt. Jarvis who cautioned motorcyclists to observe the rules of the roads.

“Motorcycles are classified as vehicles and they must stay in their designated lanes. It is against the law for motorcycles to ride alongside other vehicles,” Jarvis said.
