BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Sugar Mas product continues to evolve to incorporate more technology, and the latest in this advancement is the launch of its innovative, yet easy to use, mobile application.

The launch took place today (Dec. 11) and was twinned with the traditional sashing of the contestants of the National Carnival Queen Pageant.

It was at the St. Lucia Room at the St. Kitts Marriott that the mobile app (SKN Carnival), which is currently available for android users, was officially released.

Creator of the mobile application Anguilla’s Tahira Banks of Live Communication Ltd. explained that she had made contact with the Chairman of Carnival with a view to creating the technology and that initial action snowballed, culminating with the launch.

The application has a number of features that would assist users in accessing on-demand information about Sugar Mas’.

It boasts updates, media, events, participants, social media and overview of Sugar Mas sections which are packed with information that is constantly being updated.

According to both Banks and Carnival Chairman Sylvester Anthony, the application is not only a carnival-related tool, but because it provides information about the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis it is actually a tool for the promotion of the nation as a tourist destination.

The application would be available in the Apple App Store shortly.

The second half of the event saw five beauties being sashed by a representative of their sponsoring companies.

The beauties are Tishima Browne is sponsored by the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank, Shaneil Francis by the Development Bank, Jackiema Flemming by LIME, Zaiesha Joseph by ZIZ and Akiesha Fergus of Nevis is sponsored by Carib Breweries.

The ladies are set to take centre stage on the evening of Sunday, December 28 at Carnival Village, where an explosion of talent and entertainment is in store for patrons.

The expectation expressed in some quarters is that this year’s competition would be keenly contested and, although there can be only one queen, each participant, as well as their sponsors, appears confident that they would walk away with the crown.
