17-year-old Charged with Murder

    St.Croix, USVI - A St. Croix 17-year-old 9th grade student was arrested and charged with murder in the first degree in connection with the August 13, 2007 homicide of 41-year-old Vicky Lynn Atkinson Brewer who died after being shot in the neck. Atkinson’s body was found in the vicinity of the Christiansted Cemetery.

     

    The minor was arrested about 6:30 a.m. Friday based on a warrant issued by Judge Daryl Donahue.
    The male minor, who lives in Western Suburb in Christiansted, was also charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. Names of minors are not released by police.

     

    Bail was set for the suspect at $1,000,000.00. The minor was remanded to the Youth Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.

     

    Commissioner James H. McCall lauded the Investigation Bureau detectives for their meticulous investigation into this case that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and provided a sense of closure to the family of the victim.

     

    In a separate and unrelated incident a 17-year-old male minor was arrested at about 6:30 a.m. Friday and charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm. Police confiscated a .45 caliber Glock pistol while executing an arrest warrant at the Campo Rico residence of the minor.

     

    The minor was remanded to the Youth Rehabilitation Center pending his advice of rights hearing.
    Police on St. Croix continue to conduct proactive crime-fighting measures executing several search warrants Friday, March 20, at about 6:30 a.m. resulting in the arrest of three adult suspects on drugs and gun charges.

     

    Hugo Greenidge, 37, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. Greenidge was observed attempting to get rid of a large quantity of marijuana when police executed the arrest warrant on his Estate Whim residence.

     

    Greenidge’s bail was set at $10,000.00 pending his advice of rights hearing.

     

    Luis A. Rivera also known as “Osa” of Estate Campo Rico was arrested during the sweep. He was charged with Robbery 1st and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon during the Commission of a Crime of Violence and Brandishing and Exhibiting or using a Deadly Weapon in connection with a robbery case which occurred at Napoleon Pizza on December 5, 2008.

     

    Rivera’s bail was set at $100,000.00 pending his advice of rights hearing.

     

    Greenidge and Rivera were unable to post bail and were remanded to the Adult Correctional Facility pending their advice of rights hearing.

     

    Sheniqua Lambert, 19 of Estate Campo Rico was arrested and charged with simple possession of a controlled substance when marijuana was discovered in her residence while police were executing a warrant there.

     

    Her bail was set at $500.00 and she was released pending further court action.
