BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 16th, 2014 -- The Environmental Health Department is encouraging the general public to participate in Mosquito Eradication Week as a means to reducing incidents of dengue and chikungunya.
Participate by having open discussions and heeding the advice of Environmental Health and Vector Control Officers as they visit homes throughout the course of the week. They will be wearing Environmental Health Department Identification (IDs) and will advise on how best to get rid of standing water in which mosquitoes can breed.
There will be thermal fogging at evenings and homeowners are advised to open windows and doors in order for the fog to enter homes and effectively kill adult mosquitoes.
The fogging schedule is as follows:
Mon., Dec. 15 - Newton Ground to West Farm
Tues., Dec. 16 - St. Paul’s to Keys
Wed., Dec. 17 - Frigate Bay, St. Peter’s, Conaree/Canada
Thurs., Dec. 18 - Bird Rock and Basseterre
Persons who suffer from breathing conditions are asked to leave the mentioned areas until the fog clears.
