BASSTERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER a good showing in the hosting of the Semi-Finals and Finals of the 2014 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), St. Kitts and Nevis may be in line to host a franchise in the 2015 edition, according to Minister of Sports Hon. Glen Phillip.

Phillip, while debating the 2015 Budget last week, urged the Federation to expect an announcement shortly regarding the CPL.

“I would like to borrow something that the Prime Minister said…keep your ears to the ground. In 2015, CPL might establish a team right here in St. Kitts and Nevis. St. Kitts will have its own CPL team right here…keep your ears to the ground for the announcement.”

Phillip also stated that the CPL organisers have developed a trust in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“This did not happen by accident. It happened because the trust that the CPL organisers have in this government. In 2014 Warner Park in St. Kitts and Nevis hosted nine games in the second edition of the tournament, including the Semi-Finals and Finals.”

Warner Park was subsequently voted as having the best outfield and pitch for the tournament.

Since the inauguration of the CPL, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has declared an interest in hosting a franchise.
