CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – POLICE have issued a wanted bulletin for a 24-year-old native of the Dominican Republic who resides in Bath Village, Nevis.

The young man’s name was given as Alexander Diaz and, according to the police, he is considered a person of interest wanted for questioning in an incident that occurred on Sunday (Dec. 21) at Enrigue Bar in Charlestown, Nevis, where three persons were injured.

Diaz is five feet eight inches in height, fair in complexion with black hair and brown eyes and weighs 150 pounds.

The public is hereby warned that anyone who harbours or helps Diaz to evade the police would be committing an offence and would be arrested and charged.

The police are therefore seeking the public’s assistance in his capture and are asking that anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391 or the Violent Crime Unit at 467-1886/1888 or 662-9336, or the nearest police station, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).

“Remember, your information will be treated with confidence and you may be eligible to receive a reward,” the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, Devon Harris of St. Johnston Village was arrested and charged for Wearing Military Uniform Without Authority and Making Use of Indecent Language.

According to a police communiqué, Harris allegedly committed the offences on Friday (Dec. 19).

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is therefore urging the general public to abide with the laws of the Federation in which Chapter 19:14, Section 215 of the Defence Force Act states that the possession of camouflage apparel is prohibited by non-authorised persons and the importation of camouflage apparel is restricted without prior authorisation from the Commissioner of Police.

The communiqué reads: “Soldiers and certain Police Units are the only individuals that are authorised to wear camouflage on a regular basis. Any person wearing camouflage apparel must show police identification if requested. Customs is authorised to seize any restricted apparel without prior written authorisation from the Commissioner of Police. Once confiscated due to restricted importation, they will not be returned.”
