Over 7,000 passengers on four cruise ships visited Tuesday

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 14TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Over 7,000 cruise ship passengers graced the Port of Basseterre on Tuesday from four cruise ships.

     

    According to information from the Marine Division of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), the Costa Fortuna arrived from St. Maarten with 3,072 passengers and a crew of 936.

     

    The Queen Mary arrived from Barbados with 2,584 passengers and a crew of 1,240 and the Seabouune Spirit arrived from St. Barths with 201 passeners and a crew of 175 

     

    The Costa Fortuna and the Queen Mary docked at Port Zante, while the Seaborne Spirit anchored off shore.

     

    Also arriving was the Legend of the Seas, which docked at the Deep Water Port at Bird Rock with about 1900 passengers.

     

    Most of the 7,000 passengers came ashore and went and went on tours of St. Kitts via taxis, the St. Kits Scenic Railway and helicopter.

     

    Some headed for the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, Romney Manor and Batik, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, walked around beautiful Basseterre, hiking to Mount Liamigua and to other trails, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.

     

    Also in port were a container ship, which berth at the Deep Water Port after the Legend of the Seas departed. The car boat will discharge its cargo after the container vessel.
