By: Erasmus Williams, Press Release (CUOPM)

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 31ST 2014 (CUOPM) – The participants and their chaperones to the 35th Edition of the Miss Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant were officially welcomed to the twin-island Federation by Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

“We are really one people despite living on different islands and it is because we have realised that we have that one common destiny is the reason why we can today celebrate this oneness between our neighbours from the Caribbean Islands which you lovely young ladies are representing,” said Prime Minister Douglas during a luncheon he hosted for them at Carambola on Tuesday.

“We also extend our everlasting hand of friendship to you and always know that whether win, lose or draw you are always welcomed to our Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis,” Dr. Douglas said.

He hoped that the contestants from the several Caribbean islands “would have took the time to get very acquainted with one another as we know that friendship is a solid foundation to build a great relationship.”

“I wish you the best of luck. May the best contestant win and most of all enjoy yourselves and each others’ company,’ Prime Minister Douglas told the participants, who exchanged gifts with the St. Kitts and Nevis leader.

Participants came are St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Anguilla, Dominica, Montserrat, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Maarten, Nevis, the United States Virgin Islands and host country St. Kitts.
