Seven charged on J’Ouvert Day; three next day

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ON the day of the J’Ouvert jam (Dec. 26), police had arrested and charged a number of people for allegedly committing various infractions.

     

    SKNVibes observed that on that day members of the armed forces were out in their numbers conducting stop-and-search exercises and their presence among the revellers was felt.

    Recently, the Public Relations Officer attached to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Lyndon David, issued a press release informing that seven arrests were made on that day.

    Quincy Duncan of Pond Road was arrested and charged with Throwing Missiles to Danger of Persons, while Shani Moore of Caines Estate, Dieppe Bay was arrested and charged with the offences of Battery on Police, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction and Wearing of Camouflage.

    Upper Cayon resident Ishan James was arrested and charged with Making Use of Indecent Language, Battery on Police, Wounding and Refusing to Give Name, while Shakeel Ryan was arrested and charged with Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon.

    Newton Ground’s Damien Nisbett was charged for Possession of Cannabis. 

    Driving a Motor Vehicle Without Having Insurance was the offence for which Louis Caines of Church Ground was charged, while Leslie Stewart of the same area was charged with the offence of Permitting Another Person to Drive Her Motor Jeep When Not Insured.

    Meanwhile, three individuals were arrested and charged with alleged offences committed on the following day.

    Sandy Point resident Gerald Stapleton was charged with the offence of Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon, to wit a Knife, and Spooners Village’s Akil Clavier was charged with the offence of Obstruction.

    Driving Without a Valid Driver’s Licence, Driving Without Insurance and Driving an Unregistered Vehicles were the offences for which Shadwell’s Javed Galloway was charged.
