Reveller injured during Last Lap jam

By: Loshaun Dixon, SKNVibes.com

Basseterre, St. Kitts – A reveller was injured this evening (Jan. 2) during the Last Lap jam that is currently taking place in downtown Basseterre after being run over by one of the band’s tractor or trailer.

Details surrounding the incident are sketchy but SKNVibes understands that the incident occurred when the Nu Vybes Band International was turning from the Bay Road into Fort Street

SKNVibes also understands that the Marshals were unable to control the large crowd, among which many revellers were pushing, and the individual suffered injuries as a result.

Information reaching this publication states that either one or both of individual’s legs were injured, but the extent of the injury or injuries cannot be ascertained at this time.

It was being said that the injured individual is female but Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd told SKNVibes that it is a male and he was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.

Liburd said the incident occurred sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. but he could not confirm or provide the name of the individual.

Following the incident, Mr. Mention of the Nu Vybes Band threatened to abandon the jam because the revellers were not adhering to the instructions of the Marshals, who had been positioned to ensure that people are safe during the jam session.
