BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN autopsy report released by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force today (Jan. 5) indicates that Calvin Roberts, who was recently found hanging in his home, died of asphyxia by hanging.
Roberts, who is also known as Calvin Jeffers, resided at Walwyn Avenue and his lifeless body was discovered there “hanging from his kitchen ceiling”, the police press release informs.
The sad event took place on January 1, 2015.
Police officers were called to the scene and commenced their initial investigations of the circumstances surrounding the death of the 58-year-old.
He was pronounced dead by Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin and his body was removed from the scene by undertakers of the Jenkins Funeral Home.
Today’s police press release informs that the autopsy was performed by resident Pathologist Dr. Adrian Nunez, although it does not indicate when it was executed.
It however indicated that following the post mortem, Roberts’ remains were handed over to his family who would make preparations for his burial.
While at the scene when the initial investigations were being conducted, Commissioner of Police Celvin Walwyn told SKNVibes that it appeared as if Jeffers hanged himself.
“…We are checking on some other things but, initially, there is nothing out of the ordinary to suggest otherwise.”
He indicated that because cash and other valuables were still in the house where Roberts was found, he did not believe robbery had played any part in the incident.
Roberts was the brother of retired Commissioner of Police Robert Jeffers.
