Bird Rock shooting victim identified

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE woman who was reportedly shot in Bird Rock this morning (Jan. 15) has been identified as Carla Hendrickson.

     

    Reports reaching SKNVibes stated that sometime after 8:00 a.m. while Hendrickson was about to enter her vehicle with her daughter just outside their Bird Rock home, a gunman or gunmen fired a number of shots in her direction.

    This media house learned that she was struck multiple times to the body, including her stomach, leg and back, and was rushed to the JNF Hospital by her spouse, where she is being treated for her wounds.

    It was also learned that the vehicle in which she was taken to the hospital bore signs of bullet holes to the front doors and a part of the windscreen on the passenger’s side.

    Speaking with SKNVibes, Ian Queeley, the Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime, informed that Hendrickson underwent emergency surgery and is warded at the hospital in stable condition.

    ACP Queeley said investigations are ongoing and the police are calling on members of the public who may have information pertaining to this incident to contact “the Violent Crimes Unit at 465-1886/1887, the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS). Remember, you do not have to provide your personal information, and you may be eligible for a reward”.
     
    On Thursday, May 29, 2014, Hendrickson and Dwayne Martin were jointly charged wit h Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. 

    They were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and subsequently placed on bail to the tune of $100 000 each with two sureties. They were also ordered to surrender all travel documents and were to report to the Basseterre Police Station twice weekly.
