BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE political meeting held last evening (Jan. 27), a stone’s throw from the Buckley’s Estate where sugar workers had rioted on January 28, 1935, will be indelibly written in the annals of St. Kitts and Nevis.

It will be written not only because of Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Doulas ringing the symbolic bell that signalled the day when nationals, citizens and residents will go to the polls and the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s (SKNLP) victory in the boundaries case, but due to the fact that it was the first time the nation had seen the Nevis Reformation (NRP) Party and the SKNLP canvassing on the same platform.

At the meeting, Dr. Douglas told the massive crowd that together with the NRP they would win all 11 seats, and this sentiment was echoed the Hon. Patrice Nisbett, who since 2010 has been a Minister in the Labour Party Government.

“This is the first time that I appeared on a platform in Basseterre. It is the first I have come to bring greetings to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis on behalf of my constituents of Nevis 11. My dear people, I want to say to you tonight that Nevis 11 belongs to NRP and Nevis 11 will be returned because I banged them already and I will bang them again. Is 14 years now a banging them.

“So my dear people, I want to say to you that I came to Basseterre in 2010. I was called to duty in the service of this country by the best Prime Minister in the world. And tonight I want to thank the boss for the opportunity that he gave me.”

Nisbett proclaimed that he has been able to make the people of St. Kitts and Nevis feel comfortable with each other as a result of that opportunity.

He was also high in praise of Dr. Douglas and opined that Nevisians who are living in St. Kitts could now be comfortable with the Prime Minister’s leadership.

“I believe Nevisians living in St. Kitts, they can now be comfortable with the other, and they can now be comfortable with the leadership of Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas.”

Nisbett called on his audience to be with the two political parties in their forward thrust.

“So my dear people, I want you to be a part of that great march forward; that great march forward in moving this country forward. I believe that the Nevis Reformation Party and the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, we have the right formula to move this country forward.”

He questioned those Nevisians at the meeting on his performance and reiterated his claim to Nevis 11.

“My dear people of Nevis, I want to ask you one simple question. One simple question because it is you who sent me to Basseterre. I want to ask you tonight: Are you satisfied with me? Are you satisfied with my performance? Because performance matters!

“And so my dear people, I know I coming back Basseterre because Nevis 11 is the property of the Nevis Reformation Party. And is more licks for Alexis Jeffers! He got licks in 2010 and he’s going to get more licks in 2015.”
