Thousands fill the streets of Charlestown Nevis for Historic Unveiling of the Treaty of National UNITY. The Re-Birth of the Nation of St.Kitts-Nevis

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 3rd, 2015  --  It was an event that will go down in history as a milestone moment in the development of St.Kitts-Nevis. It was the unveiling of the incoming Team UNITY government’s Treaty of National UNITY. 
     
    Boatloads came across the waters from St. Kitts to join thousands of their Nevisian brothers and sisters at Memorial Square in front of the Courthouse in Charlestown, Nevis. There they all viewed the historic unveiling and symbolic signing of the Treaty of National Unity which consecrated the future of St. Kitts and Nevis .
     
    The event was chaired by Legal Advisor in the Nevis Island Administration Mr. Colin Tyrell who indicated that  the signing of the Treaty of National Unity is a commitment to foster a more harmonious relationship between St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    The unveiling of the document and content began with The Hon. Mark Brantley the Deputy Premier of Nevis and CCM candidate for constituency number 9, disclosing the terms of the agreement which is the Treaty of National Unity.
     
    The symbolic signing was done by the Leaders of the three parties that make up the powerful tri-partite alliance including Premier Vance Amory the Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Hon. Shawn K. Richards Leader of the People’s Action Movement and Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris leader of the People’s Labour Party and also Leader of the Team UNITY alliance. The signing was officially witnessed by Hon. Sam Condor of the PLP, Lindsay Grant of PAM and Hon. Alexis Jeffers of the CCM. 
     
    The three party leaders gave remarks endorsing the MOU (Treaty of National UNITY) and highlighted the historic and positive impact it will have on the future development of the federation.
     
    Hon. Shawn Richards expressed how humbled he was at the outpouring of love and support of all citizens in the federation including and in particular the people of Nevis who showed up in their thousands to welcome Team UNITY to Nevis for the historic event. 
     
    “The future of the federation has been sealed and we ought not as a people look back but rather plough ahead with a commitment to reshaping our land of beauty,” Hon. Richards stated in his remarks.
     
    Premier Vance AMORY declared "Whatever may have been the issues of the past, we are determined that we shall put those differences of the past behind because only the future we can consecrate. Tonight's signing is about consecrating the future and about creating a better relationship between the people of St. Kitts and Nevis," Leader of Team UNITY Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris in his presentation lauded the impeccable and astute leadership of Premier Vance Amory. Hon. Dr Harris showered Premier Amory with high praises and thanked him for his wise counsel and guidance in the pursuance of the historic MOU.
     
    The historic event culminated with a massive Team UNITY Rally which featured presentations from all 11 candidates for the first time on the same political platform. 

    The rally ended after midnight and hundreds travelled back to St.Kitts on various ferries and sea taxis.
     
    Hon. Sam Condor might have described the event best when he said, “January marks the 83rd  Anniversary of the SKN Labour Party, the 50th Anniversary of the People’s Action Movement, the 40th Anniversary of the Land Acquisition Act and now today Janaury 31st 2015 the historic signing of the Treaty of National UNITY marks the re-birth of the Nation of St.Kitts-Nevis “
