Team Unity Worships at Antioch Baptist Church

By: Team Unity Secretariat, Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (TUCOM 9th February 2015) - Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh; Raise the standard high for the Lord; Gird your armor on, Stand firm, every one; Rest your cause upon His holy Word.

    Chorus:
Rouse, then, soldiers, rally round the banner, ready, steady, pass the word along; onward, forward, shout aloud, Hosanna! Christ is Captain of the mighty throng.

A more fitting tribute in song could not be sung than this hymn by the congregation at Antioch Baptist Church.

Under the leadership of Pastor L. Connor, the church welcomed the candidates of Team Unity in a powerful worship experience on Sunday, 8th February, 2015.

Reading from the book of Ephesians Chapter 4  and excerpted here, Sam “The Saw” Condor, read the inspiring words, I,….urge you to walk in a manner worthy of your calling…with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,  eager to maintain the unity of the spirit…

An animated crowd of worshippers exuberantly sung, praised and worshipped as Pastor Connor reminded the candidates to adapt a servant’s mentality. Throughout his message he offered exhortations to the Candidates, who appeared to hang on his every word.

In St. Kitts, Team Unity is represented by the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, Candidate for Prime Minister Constituency # 7, and the Hon. Sam Condor, Constituency # 3 representing the People’s Labour Party (PLP). People’s Action Movement (PAM) is represented by the Hon. Shawn Richards, Candidate for Constituency # 5, Jonel Powell, Candidate for Constituency 2, Lindsay Grant, Candidate for Constituency # 4, Vernon Connor, Candidate for Constituency # 6, Ian “Patches” Liburd, Candidate for Constituency # 1, and the Hon. Eugene Hamilton, Candidate for Constituency # 8.

In Nevis, representing the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) is Premier the Hon. Vance C. Amory, Constituency # 10, the Hon. Mark Brantley, Constituency # 9, and the Hon. Alexis Jeffers, Constituency # 11.

Today’s message, fittingly titled “A Plea for Unity Amidst Adversity” centered around the concept of maintaining unity, unity centered by love and defining unity as a common bond that brings us together.

Pastor Connor exhorted the candidates, and by extension, the congregation, to be good men, saying, “Unity is not an option: unity is a mandate,” a biblical principle taken from I Corinthians Chapter 12.  “Begin with you, he said, if your words become your bond, the people will support you.”

Dr. Timothy Harris, the next Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis was invited to the podium to share a few insights.  He addressed the congregation, quoting from Psalms 133, “Behold, how good it is for brethren to live together in unity.”

Pastor Connor offered a powerful prayer, asking God’s blessings on the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and culminated with “Victory Ahead,” a song of praise that says in part as the Refrain, Victory ahead! Victory ahead! Through the blood of Jesus, victory ahead; trusting in the Lord, I hear the conqueror’s tread, by faith I see the victory ahead!
