Youth from Constituency 3 send a powerful message to Konris Maynard

By: Team Unity Secretariat, Press Release
“You can destroy our billboards but you cannot destroy our love for the Honourable Sam Condor”

Basseterre, St. Kitts - In anticipation of Election Day 2015, slated for February 16th 2015, the Honourable Sam Condor and the Youth of Unity launched the very innovative “I Love Sam Campaign”, featuring constituents from the West Basseterre area and their gripping testimonials in support of the well-loved Parliamentarian.

Unfortunately, the outpouring of love has been marred by cowardly acts of vandalism. In particular on Sunday morning residents of the Buckley’s Estate area learned that one of the newly-erected “I Love Sam” billboards, featuring one of their very own sons Abasi Williams, was completely destroyed.

In response to the act, Abasi Williams went on record saying: “The act is an unfortunate one because members of the community from both political fences were overjoyed to see that a member of the Buckley’s community was finally placed at the forefront in the political debate.”

Samal Duggins, youth activist and campaign manager for the Hon. Sam Condor, echoed the sentiments of Williams and added: “Although I’m disappointed, I’m not surprised. A number of attempts have been made to stifle the outpour of love for the Hon. Sam Condor. These stem from threats to dismiss constituents from their jobs to the ever popular payment to wear Labour Party paraphernalia.

“When our Prime Minister, in the heat of an already contentious election makes irresponsible statements like ‘no man left standing all man dead or wounded’ and Konris Maynard fails to condemn these statements, what else can we expect from their supporters?”

Duggins went on to say: “Thankfully, Team Unity wants to change the way we as a country approach politics. No longer is this type of rhetoric acceptable, no longer is this divisiveness acceptable. We should all be able to express our political views and support our chosen candidate without fear of persecution and more importantly without fear of violence.”

Members of the youth organization wish to highlight that a number of attempts have been made to stifle the outpour of love for the Hon. Sam Condor including threats to dismiss constituents from jobs. However the members wish to reiterate that this will not stop the love for the Hon Sam Condor and this will not stop the people of this country from voting for the change that they deserve on February 16th 2015.  Youth of Unity of Constituency 3 wish to assure the constituents of West Basseterre that they will continue to provide the people of Constituency 3 with a platform to express their love and respect for Sam Condor, who has remained steadfast in his commitment to the people of West Basseterre and this country as a whole.
