BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO candidates of Team Unity have issued a warning to Supervisor of Elections Wingrove George against the non-publishing of the electoral list that was due to be released on January 31.

At public meeting on Saturday evening (Feb 7) in Stapleton, former Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) Lindsey Grant indicated that George was treading on a similar path to that of former Election Supervisor Leroy Benjamin.

“All you done see what happen to Benjamin already; the Court say malfeasants in office. What the Court was saying is badness and worthlessness in public office. And so we watching George and we watching all of them, because they must understand they must do what is right in this country.

“Where we gone get time now to object to person on the list if some shenanigans going on?”

Deputy Leader of PAM, Jonel Powell gave details of his plight to obtain the electoral list for his Constituency.

“Just this week I went to the Electoral Office to ask for the list for Constituency Two. Oliver Knight, the Manager for the Electoral Office, told me it ain’t available. But the law says the list must be available by the end of January! I say you really want to continue to break the law? He sent me to go talk to the Supervisor.

He then outlined what took place during his conversation with the Supervisor of Elections.

“So I called Wingrove George on the phone. I said Mr. Supervisor I would like the electoral list for Constituency Two, they tell me the Court say they can’t release it. I told him the Court talk about boundary and not about list. He said it ain’t available. I say the law says he must give me the list, he say it ain’t available.

“I said Mr. Supervisor of Elections do you really insist on breaking the law again? He said it ain available and I hang up on him.

“I want you all to tell Mr. Wingrove ‘Parrot’ George that he is a criminal and he is breaking the law and will have to answer to the law of this country. I stop make joke with them.”

He also described George as a criminal and indicated that he would have to answer to the law.

“We are saying people who are registered illegally will have to answer to the law… well Wingrove ‘Parrot George will have to answer to the law because, in my opinion, he is a criminal.”
